Lil Lev, LaLev and Big Lev go to Bruce

Last weekend I saw a true rockstar play live: Bruce Springsteen. Sandwiched between my little brother, David, and my father (who's been going to Bruce concerts since the 70s), I saw The Boss crowd surf, sing-along with kids and even help a man propose to his now fiance (Bruce then serenaded them with "Waitin' on a Sunny Day."). Whether my Dad and bro were whipping out their air guitars or we were all swaying arm-and-arm belting out the lyrics to "Glory Days," it was an awesome night.

So I Think They Can Dance

One of the best perks of being an editor is getting press tickets. My inner tweenybopper was ecstatic when I got to see the "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 5 tour in Newark, NJ, last week. Here's a picture of the cast (left to right: Melissa Sandvig, Jeanine Mason, Jason Glove and Ade Obayomi) reading Dance Spirit a few hours before the show.

I've known the winner, Jeanine Mason, for about a year. I cast her as a fashion model last October. She's just as adorable in person as she is on camera—goofy, sweet and charming. I was also a huge fan of Jason Glover this season. He's a fantastic dancer with the cutest puppydog face. I've interviewed him and he's definitely a big sweetheart. Jeanine and Jason dance a gorgeous piece choreographed by Travis Wall to Jason Mraz's "If It Kills Me." The storyline in the routine is that they're best friends who become lovers.

Jeanine told me that Jason is like her big brother, but I think they'd be the dream team couple if they ever got together in real life. Tres adorable!

LaLev Interviews Tucker Max

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of interviewing one of America's biggest assholes, Tucker Max. He wrote the book "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell," which is now a movie (hitting theaters this week!). As I sipped beers on Mr. Max's party bus, he opened up to me about his theories on hooking up. Very interesting stuff coming from a man who's slept his way around the country while promoting his movie in 31 cities. But I have to give him credit for being one of the most charismatic people I've ever met. He believes that the more comfortable a person is with himself, the more comfortable the people are around him. And it's true. He's also legitimately funny. He also told me three stories that will be appearing in his next book "Asshole Finish First" (in bookstores February 2010).So I saw the movie, which is quite entertaining and stars Matt Czuchry (you may remember him as "Logan" from "Gilmore Girls"), Jesse Bradford (he played "Cliff" in the movie Bring It On) and Keri Lynn Pratt (who I also met and is adorable). After, Sarah, my roomate/sister (well, she's not really my blood relative but we've been best friends since the first day of kindergarten so we feel like we are) and I joined Tucker at his after-party. Fun times! And yes, there were many groupies camped out around Tucker hoping to go home with him.

Don't we just look like a happy family?

S and B Spotted at The Emmy's

At least night Emmy awards show something fantastic happened (in addition to the zillions of awards that were given out...how adorable was Kristen Chenoweth receiving hers?! She's so mini!). But what really revved me up was how Blake Lively and Leighton Meester came dressed as their "Gossip Girl" characters. For reals. Blake's flaming orange, look-at-me Versace gown with a plunging neckline was uber Serena, and Leighton's poufy-shoulder, goddess-like white Bottega Veneta dress and red lips, screamed "I'm the Queen B!" Sigh. Now if only S and B were actually my real friends...

Sexy Splurge!

On my way home from work, I decided to treat myself to a delicious gift. So I stopped by Sephora and picked up Marc Jacobs' new perfume Lola.

According the perfume's official website, this scent contains a sparkling fruitiness (pink peppercorn, pear and ruby red grapefruit) mixed with ultra-feminine florals (rose, fuchsia, peony and geranium) and warm/seductive notes (vanilla, tonka bean and creamy musk). To me, it just smells like what I imagine a posh model (hello Doutzen Kroes!) or one of Marc's muses (ahem, Anne Hathaway) would wear. Now it's my scent!

MTV MVA's Recap

Last night's MTV VMAs were quite a spectacle. Between Lady Gaga "hanging" herself at the end of her performance (Mark Kanemura from "So You Think You Can Dance" rocked as a backup dancer, by the way!) and Kanye running onstage to ruin Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, the evening was entertaining. Of course, the fashion wasn't forgettable either. Here are the looks I want to try ASAP!

Taylor Swift's matte red pout.

While flipping back and forth between the VMAs and True Blood's season finale, I was digging the red lips sported by both Taylor and vampire Queen Sophie-Ann (played by Evan Rachel Wood).

Leighton Meester's white studded peep-toe booties. Fierce! Can't wait for the "Gossip Girl" season premier tonight!

As for who wore it better: Shakira or Pink? I'm choosing Shakira. Over-the-knee boots make this rocker dress totally fall 2009. Pretty Woman-inspired boots are on my wish list! What were your favorite looks of the evening?

Hello Blogosphere!

Greetings readers!

I'm an editor in NYC who's been contemplating for months when to finally start a blog. September seemed like the perfect fit. Fall is absolutely my favorite season! While I may not be going back to school anymore, there's definitely the feeling of new beginnings in the air (as well as a crisp breeze...welcome back leather jackets, scarves and boots!). And of course there's a fabulous NYC event (you may have heard of it) called Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. A male friend of mine recently made his Facebook status, "What is this Fashion Week thing? The Super Bowl for Chicks?" Absolutely. And with that, onto last night's Fashion Week fun!

Love,
LaLev

Ashley and me at the Bryant Park tents last night. Ashley's my best friend. She does PR for Valentino.

The Vivienne Tam runway show. This was our favorite dress. It's sequined and totally glam!

I was ecstatic when I met Mark Paul Gosselaar at the QVC after party in the tents. Who didn't have huge crush on Zack Morris back in the 90s?! I sure did. Later, my friend scooped me by telling him that I'd been secretly referring to him as my boyfriend all night. He confronted me on it, and told me that he'd be my man for the evening. Score! Unfortunately, we never spoke again. Sigh. Zack Morris: The one who got away!

I also met Amanda Bynes. She greeted me with "Heyy Giiirl!" I told her that I've been following her career since "The Amanda Show" on Nickelodeon. She's totally cute and has fab style.

Former 'N Sync heartthrob Lance Bass was grooving around the room, starting a spontaneous dance party (love it!) when we caught up with him.

We chatted with Ana Ortiz, who plays Hilda Suarez on "Ugly Betty," about working with style queen Patricia Field. Ana says Patricia is a genius (agreed!) and that Hilda wears a lot of Bebe on the show.

This is a cute candid of Mark Indelicato who plays Hilda's son, Justin Suarez, on "Ugly Betty," chatting with Lance Bass. Other celebs we spotted at the party were: Heather Graham, Hilary Duff, Michael Urie (plays Marc on "Ugly Betty"), Justin Kirki (plays Andy on "Weeds") and Stephanie Pratt and Holly Montag (from "The Hills").

And of course, what would Fashion Week be without fashionistas sipping champagne while texting on their Blackberries?
